The journey

Seven phases, one change of definition

A career in finance, then a slow reappraisal of what it was all for. The order matters here - each phase made the next one possible.

  1. Phase 01

    Twenty-five years in investment banking

Mergers, acquisitions, capital raising and strategic transactions. Long hours, sharp people, and a first-class education in how value is built and destroyed.

  2. Phase 02

    Leadership across Asia

Advising companies and management teams across the region, working through several market cycles and the very different definitions of success each culture holds.

  3. Phase 03

    Corporate boardrooms

A seat at the table where the biggest decisions get made - and a clear view of what the people making them had traded to get there.

  4. Phase 04 · The turn

    A shift in perspective

The realisation that many of the most financially successful people I knew were growing poorer in health, relationships, purpose and energy. Nobody was auditing that side of the ledger.

  5. Phase 05

    Mountains, and what they taught

Trekking taught pacing, patience and respect for conditions you don't control. It also proved a point: capacity built deliberately in midlife is capacity you get to keep.

  6. Phase 06

    Inner Oasis Capital created

A framework putting six forms of capital beside the financial one, using the language of finance because it's the language high achievers already trust.

  7. Phase 07 · Now

    Helping others redefine wealth

Writing, speaking and working with professionals in midlife who have built the financial life they planned - and want the rest of it to be just as deliberate.
